Breaking Barriers, Inspiring Millions

In a society where beauty is often equated with long, flowing hair, Ketaki Jani stands as a beacon of confidence and inspiration. Hailing from Ahmedabad, Ketaki is India’s first alopecian model and an award-winning beauty pageant titleholder at both national and international levels. She has not only embraced her unique identity but has also become a powerful advocate for Alopecia awareness, breaking societal stereotypes and encouraging self-acceptance.

The Unforeseen Challenge

Born on January 10, 1971, in a traditional Indian family, Ketaki led a fulfilling life in Pune with her two children and a satisfying career. However, in May 2010, her world turned upside down when she began losing her hair rapidly due to Alopecia, an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss. The lack of a permanent cure, combined with the stigma surrounding hair loss, pushed her into deep depression. Society’s whispered speculations, cruel judgments, and pitying glances made life unbearable.

But instead of succumbing to despair, Ketaki made a bold choice—to embrace her new reality and walk out without a scarf or wig. “One fine morning, I decided not to die daily,” she recalls. Her courageous step silenced her critics and sparked a new chapter in her life.

From Depression to the Spotlight

What began as a casual participation in Mrs. India Worldwide turned into an extraordinary journey. She stunned audiences and judges alike, earning the title of “Mrs. Inspiration”. The legendary actress Zeenat Aman acknowledged her remarkable spirit, stating, “Let the crown be worn by anyone, but for me, you are the winner. You have your own crown, which always remains on your head.”

From there, Ketaki went on to achieve numerous titles, including:
• Mrs. Universe Woman of Confidence 2018 (Philippines)
• Mrs. Popular (Mrs. Pune & Miss & Mrs. Pune International)
• Mrs. People’s Choice (Mrs. India – She is India)

A Story Worth Telling

Ketaki’s journey has been documented in a novel titled Agnija (Daughter of Fire), written by veteran author Praful Shah. Published in both Gujarati and Hindi, the book has been read by over five lakh readers on India’s leading reading app, Matrubharti.
