What is the kanpur encounter case?
On the intervening night of 2nd and 3rd July, UP police entered Bikhru village to arrest Vikas Dubey. It was followed by a huge firefight between the goons and police. 8 policemen including Deputy Superintendent of police were killed and seven others,including a civilian, were injured. Dubey allegedly showered bullets on the officers from rooftop and laid down obstacles to stop the police from tracing his path. Dubey confessed that he planned to burn bodies of 6 officers to destroy evidence, he placed the dead bodies outside his house and had a can of kerosene ready but he ran out of time and had to flee. He was spotted in Haryana’s Faridabad district on tuesday and triggered alerts in areas of NCR, Noida and Greater Noida. Over 200 policemen were on the radar and around 10 had been suspended in the last week. Vikas had allegedly threatened the police on July 2nd around 4pm on the phone. More than 200 policemen from the Chaubeypur, Bilhaur, Kakwan, and Shivrajpur police stations are on the radar and their phone records are going to be investigated.
